Peggy Eather in the Jamieson Room (12 Oct 2026)

Sun, 11 Oct 2026 23:00:00 GMT

Peggy has had a lifetime interest in art but raising a family and a demanding career meant her art practice was put on hold. Instead, she turned her hand to photography.

After retiring, when looking through the camera lens, she felt the need to paint and draw what she saw.

Having lived in rural areas for most of her life and travelling to remote areas of Australia, Peggy has developed a kinship with the Australian landscape and its native flora and fauna. This kinship is the basis of her art. The beauty of the Australian landscapes and its wildlife and wildflowers provides the artist with unlimited subject matter.

Over time she has explored various mediums and techniques to recreate the mood and beauty of her subjects.

Most recently Peggy has been enjoying working with ink pens to create floral still life drawings.

The artist lives and works in Laurieton.

Nikki Perkins in the Macalister Room (19 Oct 2026)

THE PERKS

The Perkins family of South West Rocks, decided to paint together on Friday morning we drove to Urunga and Port another day to gather paints and lovely paper.

We painted indoors at first playing with paint, painting still life with flowers finally when we gained courage we painted outdoors.

Speed was an element of painting "Plein aire ". we had to be fast before the wind came up or the tourist spotted us, this style of painting suited some of us as there was no time to think and often thinking too much does not always produce good painting.

Painting together as a family has been rewarding an increased out connectedness. We have had great fun. we hope you enjoy the results of out fun together.

Trudy Allsopp in the Jamieson Room (26 Oct 2026)

Sun, 25 Oct 2026 23:00:00 GMT

This is a collection of 25 new works exploring the many and varied ways of working with line, colour and shape in an abstract and intuitive style.

As I develop each style, I have created a ‘mini series’ using different colour ways and I find I gradually tweak what I’m doing as I put the next piece together.

I have presented the pieces in small collections which sit happily together as a group, pair or individual pieces.

I also hope you enjoy exploring their commonalities and contrasts.

Regards Trudy

Gwen Bullock Art

Influences from Greenland, Central Europe, Outback Australia and South West Rocks have intensified Gwen's love of art and painting since 2012. Gwen works mostly with acrylics and soft pastels. She creates artworks from her own photography using her freehand skills.

Gwen's artwork is realistic/representations with impressionistic insights. Through loving to tell a story, she keeps her artwork alive and honest.

Experience with a wide range of themes from icescapes, landscapes, seascapes to human and animal portraits (and many more), have resulted from Gwen tutoring workshops for 11 years. Gwen has won awards at art shows and successfully sells her artwork.

"When the story of my artwork melds with the story of its audience, then my artwork is complete."

BRUSHSTROKES AND GESTURES

My works are all about painting in nature. It engages all the senses.

Exciting, Emotional, Vibrant, Inspirational, Resilient, Peaceful and Calm.

Originally from Oatley NSW and still a member of Oatley 101 Art Society.

I have had may painting trips away with like-minded artists who now are dear friends.

I love painting "en plein air" (outdoors).

I moved to Smithtown on the Mid North Coast in 2024 and love it.

Fred Bullen in the Whole Gallery (4 Jan 2027)

Sun, 03 Jan 2027 23:00:00 GMT

Fred Bullen has won awards for his works in local area exhibitions and many are currently displayed in galleries in Forster, Taree and Port Macquarie.

His most recent works have been described as having been executed “by an artist who has developed his own style based on an intuitive execution. The suburban landscape is rendered with an almost photographic naturalism; but the use of bright colours, ambiguous and distorted perspectives, and strange juxtapositions suggest an imagined or dreamed reality”.

His inspiration comes from the local area and the urban landscape which are then reproduced in traditional or one of many styles such as ‘abstract realism’.
